November 14-15, 2023 | Ketchikan

  • On November 14-15, 2023, the Tongass Transition Collaborative met in Ketchikan, Alaska. The objectives of the event were to:
    • Conduct a five-year review of progress made towards implementing the 2016 Tongass Forest Plan Amendment.
      Review and discuss the TTC mission statement, developed in consultation with FS over the summer, to guide the group’s work.
      Hear updates from members.
      Clarify next steps for TTC engagement.

May 3-4, 2023 | Klawock

  • On May 3-4, 2023, the Tongass Transition Collaborative met in Klawock, Alaska for a combination meeting and field trip. The objectives of the event were to:
    1. Increase collective understanding of current and potential future forest conditions, timber supply, and market opportunities.
    2. Build upon work group products to develop recommendations for young growth management and implementation. *
    3. Clarify next steps for TTC engagement.

First Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium | April 18-20, 2016

  • Briefing Paper: The TTC and the Tongass Collaborative Stewardship Group co-hosted the first Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium, as a series of field visits on Prince of Wales, Heceta, and Kosciusko Islands in April 2016. Second Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium | August 30 – September 1, 2016

  • Briefing Paper: The TTC and the Tongass Collaborative Stewardship Group co-hosted the second Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium as a series of field visits on Prince of Wales and Kosciusko Islands in September 2016. The primary goal of the field trip was to support collaboration across land ownerships, and across levels of decision-making and agency leadership, to achieve successful young growth management across Southeast Alaska.

Third Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium | October 21-23, 2019

  • Briefing Paper: Meridian Institute and Spruce Root co-hosted the third Southeast Alaska Young Growth Symposium as a learning conference in Ketchikan in October 2019. The briefing paper is available here.
